Visiting HBC
About our Church
Howick Baptist Church is a community of people, just like you, who have discovered a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ through the gospel. Jesus said, "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Obtaining, celebrating, teaching and sharing this abundant life is what we are all about.
What to expect at a Sunday Service
About 250 people attend Howick Baptist each Sunday all from a range of ages and backgrounds. Dress style also ranges all the way from casual attire to formal suit and tie. Worship music is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary music, however it does differ from Sunday to Sunday.
The services last for about an hour and a half, and afterwards there is a morning tea where we encourage you to have a cup of tea or coffee and get to meet a few people. During the service, the pastor may ask people to greet those around you, however you won't be singled out as a visitor. Also, an offering plate will be passed around during the service, but please feel free to let this pass by.
Children's programs are available during the service for ages up to intermediate school. For more detailed information please visit our page on Children's Ministries.

Communion
Communion is the tradition started by Jesus to remind us of His death and resurrection, by taking bread and grape juice symbolising His body and blood. At HBC we hold to the teaching of 1 Corinthians 11:27-29. If you are a Christian in right standing with God and your fellow believers, we encourage you to partake of the bread and grape juice with us - otherwise you may simply let them pass by you.
Parking
There is parking on both sides of the church for use on Sundays. When both of these lots are filled up, there is another parking lot across the road from the church, so lack of parking space is rarely an issue.
An Invitation
Whether you're looking for a new church, or looking at going to church for the first time, we would love to meet you and have you join us for a Sunday service. It is perhaps the best way you can get to know us. Feel free to have some tea or coffee and biscuits after the service and get to know someone. There's a location map on our Contact page you can use to find us.
